PCI Adaptor Problem

We are attempting to install an additional HDD on a system running Win2000
Pro. We're using a Maxtor Ultra ATA/133 PCI card that was removed from
another machine in which it performed well. We follow Maxtor's installation
instructions, and the OS detects the card and pops up the setup wizard that
asks for a driver. We have the original MaxBlast v3.6.1 installation CD. We
specify ULTRA.INF as the inf file, but we consistently receive the message
"unable to locate driver." We've tried moving all the MaxBlast files into
various directories with no luck. Finally, the OS is not installed on the C
drive. It's on another drive in the WINNT directory. Any comments will be
greatly appreciated (we're at the tearing-out-hair point...). THANKS,

When the wizard asks where the driver is, point it to the directory
that contains the following:
Directory of C:\Downloads\atadrvr

11/12/2007 08:20p <DIR> .
11/12/2007 08:20p <DIR> ..
12/05/2002 03:33p 2,632 readme.txt
10/09/2002 09:29a 4,047 txtsetup.oem
10/09/2002 09:29a 7 ULTRA

Thanks, Andy, for your suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Same
result as before - "unable to locate driver." A new thought on this dilemma:
the Maxtor installation guide mentions that the ATA PCI card should show up
as a "SCSI" in Device Manager. It doesn't - it shows up as a "PCI Device"
(no other description). Also, the ULTRA.INF file mentions "SCSI." Could
there be some sort of conflict between the ULTRA.INF file and what the OS
thinks the device is that explains why no driver is found? Is there's
anything to this idea, any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks, again.

I have this card and tried installing it using the Maxtor CD. Windows
2000 found the drive and installed it without problem. Before the
driver is installed the card is identified as Mass Storage Device
under Other Devices in Device Manager. After the driver is installed,
the card is identified as SCSI.
