PC will NOT go into Hibernate Mode....

Whenever I hit the Hibernate button, my PC will start actually start the
shutdown (Hibernate) process, but will freeze on the Spash Screen that
says....."preparing to Hibernate".

What could be keeping it from going further ??

Most likely a hardware driver is ignoring the request from
the OS to save its state and terminate. Disconnect all
external peripherals to see if any of them are involved.
