pc will not boot, getting ntldr missing error

have attempted to create a boot disk microsoft article
305595 but don't quite understand the part on creating a
boot.ini file. how do i determine what the exact values to
put in?

any assistance would be appreciated

Do you have the window xp release CD?
If so, boot the recovery console, and you can look at your existing boot.ini
file.
Its in the root directory or whichever partition is used to boot and should
be in the same place as ntldr and ntdetect.com

If you can't find it, use the bootcfg command to recreate one.
