pc wants to turn off

This sounds kind of strange, when did it start to happen,
were there any changes in Hardware or Software around
that time, did you download anything??

I had a new hard drive put in a couple of weeks ago so i've downloaded a few things. but i don't think i've downloaded anything i didn't have before.Also sometimes when i minimize my windows they don't go down to the task bar, they just disappear.

Did the problem start before you downloaded the new things or did you have

I can't remember.I had to reinstall my norton then the many many xp updates.Then i down loaded Incredimail and Spy sweeper both of which I had before. The only other thing i can think of is I tried out a few pop up stoppers from downloads.com, and didn't like any of them but i scanned them all with the norton before i opened them.
