PC restarting troubles...

I hope you good people can help...

I have a PC that keeps restarting and I can't figure out why. Here are
some of the computer's details;

It mostly restarts when playing a high-end 3d game like Battlefield 2
or CounterStrike. I installed two more fans thinking that it's just
getting hot. It seemed to stop restarting for a while and then start
it's failure cycle again

Thank you.

Is that an AGP or PCI-e Radeon? I've found that some boards need to have
the AGP speed set lower, like 4x, in order not to reboot during games
(especially with ATi cards of the last few years). Also, you were
concerned about temperature, so what ARE your temperatures? What power
supply do you have in there (make AND model, please) and what is the
full list of your system components?

Regards,

Ari

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my

Can you at least throw us a bone and post system specs? That bollocks
you posted is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Include PSU rating.

Your video card may be overheating, but you did not mention it's model
number and specs in your posting.

I thought I did post enough information. What other information do you
need?

....and what's "bollocks"?

A

alex.cordero

It's a PCI-e Radeon X800 Series
the Power supply is an Antec 480w with two fans.
The temperatures that I'm seeing are about 60-70.

At this point. I've installed "several" small fans inside the case--I
don't know what else to do. switch out the card? change the memory?
what else makes computers startup spontaneously.

This is high and is probably your problem. would this be case termp or CPU/?

A

I'm using a program called Speedfan to tell me the temperatures. How
can I tell the difference between case temp or CPU?

I purchased two additional fans and screwed them on to the removal side
panel on the case. I oriented them to blow cool air in but I'm thinking
that this is the wrong approach. Maybe I should set them up as warm air
extractors? Or maybe just change the case to cooler and more
ventilated case.

This problem belongs to your graphics card.First have
look on heat issue.the second issue mey be the problem wit
driver, this case is very rare but there is a chance of drive
problem.Download the latest driver & update the driver

Are these system, CPU, or GPU? Either way, that's pretty hot. Where are
you getting these values from.

Hai Alex,

This problem belongs to your graphics card.First have a
look on heat issue.the second issue mey be the problem with
driver, this case is very rare but there is a chance of driver
problem.Download the latest driver & update the driver.

I was going to suggest a driver problem as well. Not necessarily a video
driver either. Re-install chipset(mobo),video and audio. After that
re-install DirextX 9C.

A

alex.cordero

See? now I was thinking about this as well--a driver problem. The only
is that the computer has been behaving this way even after a hard drive
reformat. I reformatted the hd thinking that there might be a driver
problem. When I can't solve driver problems, I usually reformat. I
don't have a lot of time to sit there and analyze dlls when it takes me
30 minutes to get a clean system.

How about those VGA coolers? do those things work very well?
