pc re booting constantly

Hello all!

PC is constantly rebooting, crashing on IE (flash.ocx/mshtml.dll).
Originally only happening on IE, now on various programs (takes a few a
attempts to run any program lasting longer than 5 mins!) Now at the stage of
expecting a crash/re-boot every time i switch the thing on! I seem to
remember a setting somewhere that will stop the re-boot and give me a error
code. Been around the block with anti-virus/spy software, 99.99% sure system
is clean. Also getting recomendations through error reporting to update BIOS
due to newer processor!, (not the case). Also the odd memory problem thrown
in for good measure, (run microsoft memory checker as advised by error
message, all ok). If it wasn't for the fact that I understand my Ipaq doesn't
like mac software and I'm used to windows, I would probably be going to the
"other side' by now!?! Any help greatly appreciated. Running SP2 (installed
from microsoft. Norton, not monitoring during install. Will gladly give any
further hardware spec if needed!!!

Thanks in advance

Which error code do you get?
when a system failure is encountered the system automatically restarts.
To prevent the system from automatically restarting:

Right click on My Computer > Properties and select Advanced tab.
Click the Settings button in the [Startup and Recovery] section.
Remove the checkmark from Automatically Restart in System Failure section.

This started happening to me right after I downloaded the .NET update from
Windows Update site. I did a system restore to a coupla days prior to the
download and all is well now. I don't know why it happened, but I just
won't get this update now.

The computer is giving an error about a Macromedia Flash file. Why don't you
UNINSTALL Flash, reboot and then reinstall it - if you really need it.
