Pc Problem

I currently have a PC which is operating on windows XP, on a broadband cable
connection. Just recentlly it started making a dialing sound and
consistentlly keeps making this dialing sound every few minutes. It sounds
like a phone trying to dial and makes the sound once then a few minutes later
will do it again and so on and so on. Im not sure why it is dialing since im
not using a dial up connection, im using broadband cable. I will have to get
a technician in if i cant seem to fix the problem but before i do just
thought it might be something simple that im missing. If anyone can help me
fix this problem i would greatly appreciate any assitance you can offer.

Tools, Options,Connection,Change,put a dot in the never dial a connection in
internet connection settings. Hope it helps. Just a thought.
