PC not turning off

I have a new (but used) PC with a fresh installation of XP on it, and
it will not shut down all the way. It gets stuck saying "WIndows is
Shutting down" and the next morning it still says that on the screen.
Is there something I need to do, or do some machines just do this and
you have to manually push the button?

Hi Alice,
I think you have Hardware/software problem,try to see if all Data/Power
cables pluged in Firmly in the back of your pc case,and log on and see the
log file for your event viewer and look for Red Crosses which represent an
error for some applications on your pc if any please write it and send it
here.
