PC hangs on opening a window

Hey guys

I'm experiencing a weird problem, with a PC I'm trying to get right at
the moment. It'll boot up just fine, but as soon as you open My
Computer for instance, the PC just freezes. It doesn't even get as far
as showing you the drives on the system, it hangs while the screen is
still plain white.

I've tried going into Safe Mode, to check the Event Viewer, but I can't
pick up anything abnormal. In Safe Mode the PC works just fine, leading
me to think it was some sort of driver issue. However, after
changing\downgrading various drivers, the problem persists.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? What causes it?

Updated from manu site only, NOT winupdate

Yup, I did a bit more troubleshooting, and discovered that the graphics
adapter (the motherboard has integrated graphics) is actually a bit
messed. Even the latest driver didn't help.

I plugged in a seperate graphics card, and all seems well now
