PC freezes (blue screen) when switching on printer

Switching on my Epson Stylus Photo 895 (USB) while my PC is on freezes
my PC. This is also the case in the inverse case: switching the PC on
while my printer is on. What can be the cause? Without the printer the
PC works fine.
The same USB-ports work fine using my scanner or an external hard disk.

Start > Printers and faxes, if more than 1 printer is installed, right
click & delete the unwanted 1.

If only 1 printer is installed Delete & reinstall, you will need the
disk that came with the printer.
