PC does not auto hibernate

Mervyn Thomas

My Pc has stopped auto hibernating after the set time of 25 minutes no
activity!! The settings in Power management are still there but the event
does not take place. The sleep button still works.
Anyone know what could cause this or waht process is required to run to make
it happen?

Hi Mervyn,

Yes, this is a common occurance. I am in the Green IT industry, my
company Verdiem has a solution for Network wide PC Power Management
(SURVEYOR). We call this issue - INSOMNIA, due to the fact the PC and
Monitor won't go into a lower power state when instructed. It is a bug
in the Microsoft OS. We have developed a patch (fix) for the problem
and now can force the PCs and Monitors experiencing Insomnia into the
appropriate power state. I hope this is helpful.
