PC doctor for xp found errors

On the taskbar of the computer where you drop down your screen, I get blue
retangle boxes with a square white box in it run randomly across the task bar
as if some unknow program is running. I tried to run PC doctor for XP and the
test for my hard drive floppy and modem and the report says the test cannot
run. the hardrive report says that the random seek linear and funnel scans
cannot run. What does this mean, is my computer in trouble. My computer is
also creating check points daily in my system restore calanders. Can anyone
help
