hi my pc is crashing and i tried to do the following checks as per the
advisor GP :
WITH REFERENCE TO his post : 5/18/2009 12:15 AM PST in "pc crashes" issue,
1) Did you install/update any drivers, antivirus updates etc on the ystsm
recently. - yes
2) Do a system restore to a date before which you first noticed the OS crash
- it was done around 6 times, but the last 4 times it failed, the pc is still
crashing.
3) When the OS crashes, it gives youa bugcheck code. This is helpful in
tracking the root cause. OPen eventvwr from start run and check for any
system events indicating crashes. These events will also contain the bugcheck
codes for the OS crashes that have happened on the box. Send us the details
of these crashes. - but in the event viewer it does not show any bugcheck
codes for any crashes, it only gives the normal events.
4) When the OS crashes it creates memory.dmp file in the windows folder,
this file can use used to investigate the root cause of the hang. -
memory.dmp file is empty, while the computer crashes every hour or so.
