I like PC-cillon and provide it to my clients all the time. Good on
resources, backed by a well known engine and frequent updates (Trend Micro)
and basically non-obtrusive to the user.

Dunno about the AV component, but the firewall has a fatal flaw. Wait until
somebody gets a trojan in their PC that sends out requests to other PCs to reach
out and touch it.

PC-Cillin's warning dialog takes focus - so if you're, say, trying to type up a
document in MS Word you are interrupted until you dismiss the dialog.

Sounds harmless - but we're talking 2-3 of these attacks per second once that
kind of a trojan gets down to doing it's thing. Basically, the user's PC
becomes unusable until they think to pull the internet connection plug.

Also, maybe you've had better luck than I trying to get support from Trend
Micro. Early on, I was able to get responses from them - but they were so
heavily laden with inane boilerplate that it almost wasn't worth it. Last few
months I had PC-Cillin, I was unable to get any response at all from Trend Micro
support about a problem with the product constantly acting as if it needed an
update.

We've obviously had completely different experiences. Don't know why. I am
talking about pc-cillon 2006 which was a major overhaul. No issues
whatsoever. Especially of the kind you are referring to with the firewall.
That kind of stuff would cause me to dump it in a minute. Maybe it's your
configuration???

Anyway, I like PC-cillon 2006 and recommend it.

How about Trend Micro support? Have you ever had to contact them? If so, did
they respond?

Maybe they've cleaned up their act...

To be honest, I've never needed them for PC-cillon. I have called them on
their corporate products and received adequate response (It's all relative!)
.. Not glowing response though. :)
