PC automatically reboots after shutdown

J

Jim Richards

Using XP Pro w/SP2 and automatic updates turned on. My PC just started this
problem after automatic updates downloaded and installed severl updates just
a few days ago. When I shutdown the PC I have to watch and cut the power
when it starts to reboot. If I don't do this, I am soon back at the Windows
Welcome Screen. Any suggestions? TIA, Jim.

Uninstall the updates and test. If OK manually install them one at a time
till failure.

In startup and recovery turn off automatic restart, that will give you
a BSOD. This can be very usefull to find out why. Sometimes it could
be a hardware issue, but many times it's software. One time I found a
virus on my system this way. That can also cause a reboot.

Hey Jim,
Uninstall the Windows updates from your PC. If you still have the problem,
update the BIOS of the computer. Could be an hardware issue as well. Take
care. Byee.
