path too deep

trying to copy users pst's to network drive and getting this error after 20
or so minutes. deleted as many emails as possible and ran scanpst and
compression. pst still at about 1.1G so that probably has something to do
with it. please advise. thx.

The size of the PST file shouldn't be much of an issue for that message.
It tends to refer to the length of the path you're copying to or from.

Try mapping drives to get the shortest possible path for both source and
destination, then retry the copy.

You are aware that Microsoft does not support pst files on a network drive?

Yep, it's for a temp move. She's in a new dept and this is just for a transfer.

I run into this problem quite a lot if my router has been up and running for
several days. It occurs when I try to transfer graphics files between my
desktop computer and my wife's laptop via a wireless router. The length of
the path isn't a factor because I have tried it from root directory to root
directory and having the files with single letter + extension as names (4
letters in total) and I would still get the "path is too deep" message. A
reset of the router and I could transfer the files from any directory.
Non-compressed data files pose no problem at all for whatever reason.

Try resetting your router (by disconnecting the power) and see what
happens....you may have to reboot your computer.

Yes i've heard of that resolution too, however, the large financial
institution that i work for would not be too happy if i reloaded our MAN ring
rtr. I would have larger problems at that point As a work around I've
decided to burn a copy of the pst files to disk and send it to her. Done and
done

In your situation that is probably all that you can do.
