If I change my account adm name it does not change my file path to able

I'm not sure what you mean by "previous links to work" but you don't
want to just change a user account name since that doesn't change all
the underlying files/folders of the account.

Instead, create a new user account and copy over data from the old
account, if so desired. Here is a link explaining that:

You will need to log into the new account once before you can copy
anything to it.

I like your idea but my drive is 3/4 full and I am afraid I would have to
add to new acct and delete from old acct bit by bit in order to do that

Rather than set things up incorrectly, it is time to do some major
cleanup and/or buy a bigger hard drive. You will start to experience
problems if you don't.
