Patch received from Security @microsoft.com

I received this patch in my mail and when I opened it to
download it showed a virus. Why would I get something
from them with a virus?

It is NOT from Microsoft.

Emails such as this, which are produced by a computer which has been
infected by one of the many email viruses currently circulating, have been
appearing (in one form or another) for more than a year. The sender name
and other information is forged and the only purpose for these emails is to
get you to open the attachment and infect your own computer.

Microsoft never, repeat NEVER, sends updates, fixes, patches, etc., as
attachments to emails.
