patch install trouble

I downloaded the patch to remove the worm. I tried to
install this patch and received the following error as
the system was extracting the file.
extraction faled
xpsplhfm.exe is not a valid win32 application.
I think i may have downloaded the patch for the 64 bit
instead of the 32bit. Would this have caused the problem
 
I don't know about the file you downloaded, but the file
I installed was; WindowsXP-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe this is
for 32bit.
