I went to install the patch for the msblast, because
symantec said that patch must be installed before the
recovery tool is run -- i have the worm -- microsoft
update brings up the 823980 update to install. I press
install and i get a box with an agreement to read and
agree to -- however there is no place to check to accept
the agreement. i have tried everything and can't get it
to accept and install. Help!

Your fonts are probably set too big.

Direct download to RPC/DCOM patch:

Alternatives to Windows Update for all Critical Updates:

Somebody always has problems with any patch, no matter how well written
it is, or not. At this time there is very heavy traffic on windows
update. I'd advise you to got to windows update, write down all the
critical updates that are listed, then go to the windows update catalog
and download the patches to your harddrive, and manually install the
patches. Make sure you create a restore point, before beginning the
manual patching process, and I'd disconnect from the internet, and then
turn off my AV too!

Windows Update Catalog:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/en/default.asp

And that's going pretty slow too, so another way to get most if not all
the critical updates is by getting them to thru MS's Security Bulletins
Archive:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/security_bulletins/archive.asp

Find the ones that are on your critical update list from windows update.

Good Luck!
