MS03-026 vs 823980

There's a notice going around right now from my ISP how I need to
install the security patch in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-026 for
my WinXP.

I auto update critical updates, and one of the many critical security
updates in my installation history is Security Update for Windows XP
(823980)

I assume that these patches are the same since 823980 appears obtusely
in the Bulletin's text.

Is this correct? Wish they'd [MS?] be a little clearer.

You're correct, 823980 is the patch for bulletin MS03-026.
823980 is the KB article number that all patches get,
farther down in the security bulletin it mentions this
number.

You're also right though, that it could be clearer.
