Pasting Text from Web Page

When I paste text from a web page into a Word (2k) document,
it always comes in as Times New Roman. My Normal template,
Normal Style, is Arial. The web page text appears to be
something like Arial (certainly *not* like Times New Roman).

So where is this Times New Roman formatting coming from?

Paste as "Unformatted Text," via the Paste Special dialog box, to have the
pasted text adjust to the formatting in the target document.

To display the dialog box:

- Click Edit | Paste Special (Word 97-2003).

- On the Home tab, click the arrow on the Paste button (in the Clipboard
group), and then click Paste Special.

Stefan's advice is what you need, but I think if you'll glance at the Styles
box, you'll see that the text is probably pasting as "Normal (Web)."

Thanks for the reply. My replies in-line...

Most of it is "Normal (Web)", but some is just plain
"Normal".

That point seems moot though--I just tested, and found that
either way, it splots into word in the Times New Roman
typeface.

If it comes in as "Normal", when I select it and choose
"Normal" again, the text is modified to my desired "Normal"
style. Very confusing.

And of course, if there is other formatting, such as
indents, etc., re-specifying "Normal" puts it *all* Normal,
losing the other formatting. Very frustrating.

If it comes in as Normal, then selecting it and pressing Ctrl+Spacebar (and
Ctrl+Q, if needed) will take care of it.

Thanks Suzanne. I had all but forgotten those shortcuts.
