Default Font

I am using Office 2003-Word
The default font is Times Roman 12
I want to change it to Arial 12
Opened Format/Font. I select Arial 12 and then clicked on Default. It
changed as the default. After I close and reopen Word the default font is
Times Roman 12.
I inserted Arial 12 on a new document before I went to Format/Font. I also
typed some text in Arial 12 before going to Format/Font.
Any suggestions would surely be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your support.

Perhaps you have an add-in preventing Normal.dot from being saved. After
changing the default, use Shift+File | Save All to ensure that it gets
saved.

You probably want to investigate what's preventing Normal.dot from being
saved, though. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm. You can
disable one add-in at a time to see which one is causing the problem and
then decide whether you really need it. Make sure you have "Prompt to save
Normal template" checked at Tools | Options | Save; then, when you have made
a change to your settings, you should get a prompt to save Normal.dot when
you quit Word. If you don't, then you know that something is interfering
with it. One common culprit is the add-in for some versions of Adobe
Acrobat; see the relevant portion of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm
