Pasting graphics from Word 2003 into FrontPage 2003

Does anyone know why the following steps are needed to paste clip art, etc.,
from Word into FrontPage? If you don't take these steps and you just paste
clip art with a layout position set to In front of text, the image pastes,
but behaves different in FrontPage in terms of positioning it and the image
is NOT saved as a separate file. Please see steps below and try it. Thanks in
advance:

If you copy and paste an image such as clip art, WordArt, or a drawing
object from Word to FrontPage, you must take special steps in Word first to
insure that the pasted image comes in as a separate file for embedding. First
create the image in Word with the Layout position In line with text. To do
this in Word, select the image, right-click it, and click Format Picture,
Layout tab, Wrapping style, In line with text, OK. Next, copy the in line
image, and then paste it into FrontPage as an Image Tag using the Paste
Options smart tag list button. In this way, the will be saved as a separate
gif file.

html doesn't allow for images and other external files to be embedded into a page, like Word

It would be better to create your HTML documents directly in FP or another HTML editor and not Word,
if the primary purpose of the document is to make available on the internet as a HTML document,
otherwise convert it to a PDF document so that you retain the formatting and all embedded objects.

Yes, use FP for laying out your pages ... not a WORD doc.
You need to IMPORT all your graphics into FP before you can use them on
pages. You will need to do a screen capture of Wordart to be able to use it.
This + another article mentioned within, will help you, I'm sure:

Could you not simply insert the clipart straight in to Frontpage (forget
copy/paste from Word). Use the MS Office clipart manager (whatever its
called) and insert the image directly into frontpage.

Frontpage is not a word processor - don't expect it to behave like one.
