Preserving a letter from Word 2003 when pasting into Frontpage 2002

Hello,

I have used Abbyy fineReader 8.0 to scan a letter the scan was output
inot a Word 2003 document. Apart from a few errors the page is
identical to the original when I open Word.

I now want to paste the letter into Frontpage. But despite my best
efforts Frontpage does not keep the layout of the letter which had been
pasted into a table set to 90% it does include the letter heading
nicely.

Also which adds to my problem with trying to get a copy of the letter
into my webpage the table has resized itself so that it is much wider
than the setting for the table as if its accommodating a large graphic

You do *not want to preserve Word's formatting (it's probably even worse if
it went through OCR) you should strip all formatting out (copy/paste it into
Notepad, then copy/paste it into FP - there are other ways to do this as
well). Then format it in FP.

Thanks for the advice Rob but I think you might have misunderstood my
intention, which was to publish a letter just as if it had been
scanned. The problem is if I did insert a scan it would be a very
large graphic image. The alternative is to do as you suggest, which is
a lot of work to recreate the look and feel of the original letter.
That letter is meant to be published as a reply to a previously
published letter. A PDF copy, which would be an exact copy of the
letter would defeat my purpose which is enable the reader to follow a
correspondence. Maybe Frontpage can't do this.

Then scan it, save it as a .tif and edit it in an image editor, then save it
as a .gif. It won't be too big if you optimize it first.

If it's only going to be an image, then a PDF would probably be best.

I don't understand this statement:

Well it is considered that the best way of publishing a document even a
single page is in the pdf format. But then the website user would not
get the benefit of being able to see the original letter. What I want
is to publish a reply to a letter and edit that reply's receipients
address to a non-de-plum to hide personal details. I suppose I could
just cover the receipients address etc when I scan the reply letter.
