Pasting Excel Chart

I am having trouble pasting an excel chart into PowerPoint. I copy the chart
then paste special, excel chart object into Power Point. I keep getting an
error message that error accessing file. Connection may have been lost. I
click OK several times and it pastes my chart into the powerpoint slide. This
never happened until I downloaded the updates from Microsoft for XP Pro.
Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue on all 80+ of my workstations. All are XP sp3,
Office 2003 sp3 fully patched. There has got to be issue with a recent
patch. It does not matter if it is a new or ols ppt file or whether the
excel file is local or on the network. All of a sudden we can't paste chart
objects into powerpoint. HELP
