pastes picture instead of text

For some very strange reason all of a sudden everytime I paste from somewhere
else into a Word document instead of the copied text I get a Bitmap image of
the original Word document. I've tried Paste Special options and everything
has the same result.

Sounds like something is interfering with OLE-Exchange on the Clipboard, or with
the basic Copy command. This could be some kind of "management" program at the
Windows level, or an Addin you've installed for Word or Office.

My guess would be something in Windows. If you start Windows in SAFE mode, does
the problem go away as long as you're in this mode?

Hi,
Thanks for the advice. It seems incredibly sporadic. I started in Safe Mode
and there was no problem and when I went back to working normally it was
okay. Then towards the end of the day it pasted as a Bitmap again!!? Pulling
whats left of my hair out.
Cheers
Roachie

Definitely a configuration problem on your machine. Tracking it down could be
a nightmare, though. This isn't really my area of expertise (I only reply to
such questions when it becomes obvious no one else will).

I'd say, try asking in a Windows group how one finds and turns off such
"management" programs, one at a time, the way Safe Mode can for all of them.
After you ask that, explain why you're asking (that way they'll understand why
you're asking them and not us) Someone may already be familiar with the
problem. In any case, that way you have a chance of tracking down which
program it might be.
