paste special unformatted text

When using the Edit>Paste Special>Unformatted Text option in the middle of a
paragraph that, for example, is bold, the pasted text is also bold. Is this
by design in Word (2003) or should the pasted text be "unformatted" with no
bold by design?

Thanks ahead of time for your advice!

Hi Mariann,

This is by design so that, instead of being pasted with whatever attributes the text originally had, it adopts the attributes of the
range it's pasted into.

Cheers

Thanks so much. Just to be clear: what then is the difference on the paste
options menu between "Match Destination Formatting" and "Keep Text Only?"
I'm guessing that "Keep Text Only" only works in a paragraph that has no
formatting or in an "empty" paragraph that has the "normal" style (assuming
the normal has no formatting) applied? And, would the best way to teach
others how this works be to then use the "ctrl+spacebar" to take off any
formatting it applies?

Thanks again for helping to clear this up for me.

I think one of the differences is that Keep Text Only removes things like
Tables (converts them to Text), pictures, and other non-text objects.

Hi Mariann,

I don't have those options (Word 2000), so I can't comment.
