paste special pic looks different in 2000 vs XP

A couple times, i've done paste special as a picture from either word or excel xp into ppt xp and i go ahead and crop the image. But when viewed in PPT 2000, the image then fills the entire slide and you can see what was cropped out -- it may have something to do with the image's background color not being transparent. It only happens when i crop the image.

When PPT crops, it doesn't really crop out the extraneous parts of the
image -- it just kind of hides them.

In PPT 2002 (aka PPT XP), if you crop the image and then on the picture
toolbar choose the Compress Pictures option, you can remove that cropped
area permanently. Then it should show up correctly in PPT 2000.

Try pasting into MS Photo Editor instead. Crop the image there, save it as a
new image file and insert THAT into PPT using Insert, Picture, From File.
