We have a couple machines with windows 2000 and servers
with windows 2000 server. What is happening that out of
the blue you can copy/cut but the paste is greyed out and
the only way to fix is reboot then paste works again. We
do have problem's with viruses and I think that is the
cause of it but my question is how to fix it. I will
appreciate if anybody can give me advise. Thanks Hannes

Hi

This could be caused by the Blaster work or one of it's variants. If you didn't

install KB824146 (or KB823980) before you connected the computer to a network,
this is very likely to happen.

Update to stop the Blaster worm and it's variants from infecting your computer
can be downloaded from here:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=824146

Then you can run a cleanup tool, e.g. Stinger.exe from McAfee, it removes 30+
virus/worms in one sweep, including all MSBlaster variants (McAfee
name W32/Lovsan.worm), Welchia (McAfee name W32/Nachi.worm) and Sobig.f

McAfee AVERT Stinger

More here as well

After this, if you haven't got it already, you should install an antivirus
program and keep the virus signature files updated at all times.
