"paste" function failure

"Paste" function has ceased to function in MS Word when I
copy from any document except a MS Word document to
another MS Word document. The "copieed" text shows on the
clipboard, but when any "paste" icon or key is selected,
the hourglass appears and I m unable to get the "paste" to
take. In addition, once the hour glass appears, MS Word
becomes inoperable until I exit MS Word.

Thanks for your suggestion, but it did not solve the
problem.

I chose the "detect and repair" option. I was asked to
insert the Office 2003 Professional CD, which I did.

I then did a re-start, but the problem persists, no change
in the symptom or the result.

If Detect and Repair does not correct the problem, you may need to
reinstall Word.

Thanks. I did not say that the detect and repair request
for the insertion of the Office 2003 Professional Edition
CD was for a re-install, which I did, but failed to
include the re-install in my reply.

I am pleased to have your reply to mine, and sorry that I
did not include the information about the re-install.

My MS Word program is rendered almost useless because of
the need to copy text from documents available online.

It is an odd thing, to have the paste and copy to have
worked so flawlessly for all the years that I've used MS
Word, on several computers, and for several editions of
Word, and now to have this failure, for which no solution
is yet available and is not addressed in any MS user forum.

I appreciate your thoughts and now have a virtually
useless program for so much of my work.
