Error in pasting text into MS Word from the Clipboard.

EB

When I copy some text from the internet to the Clipboard, for transfer
to MS Word, after opening Word, I am unable to paste it into a document.
I have to re-copy to the Clipboard and then I can Paste it.

Has anyone experienced this problem? And is there a solution?

I am using MS Works 6.0 which has MS Word 2002.

Thanks.

This is a new feature in Word 2002 that I think is overkill. I found
out about it the hard way when trying to help others with this version
of Word 2002 (I'm still using Word 2000). Word 2002 has the OFFICE
CLIPBOARD which seems to override the WINDOWS CLIPBOARD. If you copy
text from the Internet without Word being open first, the text will
copy to the Windows Clipboard, but it will not paste into a Word
document (as you found out). If you open Word first, before you copy
text from the Internet, then the text will copy to the OFFICE Clipboard
as well as the Windows Clipboard. You can then view the Office
Clipboard under View > Office Clipboard (I think that's the menu item).
From there you can paste it into your document. An alternative method
is to find the option to make the Office Clipboard "collect" copied
text without having to have Word open. Check Word's Help files for
more info on the Office Clipboard. I'd provide more info but I don't
have immediate access to Word 2002!
