Go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ . There you will find
zip files that will let you create boot floppy disks or bootable CDs
that will enable you to reset any system password on an NT class
operating system (XP is an NT class operating system).

Follow GreenieLeBrun's advice about how to reset the password on the built
in Administrator account. When that is cleared up your daughter needs to do
a few things to help this situation.

1. Do not use the built in Administrator account for day to day activities.
Put a strong password on that account and set it aside to use if something
damages the normal working account. The create another account with admin
privileges and use that for the admin account. Set a strong password on
that account too. See this link for how to create/configure accounts in XP:

HOW TO Create and Configure User Accounts in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=279783

As Pegasus puts it, you don't normally have just one set of keys for your
car, right? If something damages the built in Administrator account, and
there are no other admin level accounts, there could be serious difficulties
fixing problems or even accessing windows.

2. After the second account with admin privileges is created, and it has
been logged into at least once, you can copy the data and settings from the
Administrator account to that working account. Here is a link how to do
that.

How to Copy a User Profile
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_logon.htm

After testing that all data and settings have been migrated to the new
account, delete the duplicate data in the Administrator account if so
desired.

3. Create as many limited user accounts as needed and have most users use a
limited user account. Assign strong passwords to each account

4. Disable the Guest account. It's a special purpose account that's useful
in a networking environment, but otherwise it's a security risk. Disable it
from the User accounts applet. Assign one of the newly created limited user
accounts to be used by casual users of the system. Call it Visitor or what
ever you want (except Guest).

Keep a safe record of all passwords so the problem of a lost password won't
happen again.
