My son is able to access the computer even when I've
changed his password. He can make himself a computer
administrator w/o my consent. I cannot lock him out of
the computer. He somehow can obtain a list of all
passwords ever used on the computer. He won't tell me
how, and I would like to know: 1)How does he access this
information;and 2)Can I stop him from being able
to "hack" into this thing?

He's probably got hold of a password reset disk. You can change the bios
boot-up sequence so that it won't boot from anything but the hard drive and
then password protect the bios settings.

You'll also want to padlock the computer case shut so that he cannot use the
jumper switch inside to reset the computer's bios back to factory default
settings.

With the greatest of respect, however, if someone has unrestricted physical
access to a computer they will break in eventually regardless of what system
you run and what tricks you play, however -- what will you do if you follow
my advice and he uses a pair of bolt cutters to remove the padlock? And as
such i've got to suggest that at least part of this is a "parenting" issue
that is going to take a "human" solution as well, not just techie tricks.

You should be able to right click MY Computer then Manage
then local users and groups then Users then on the right
click an open blank area and select New User. Give him a
name and password then uncheck user must change password
at next log on. This will open all the boxes. Click on
the one that says "user cannot change password". Then
click close. Than if you right click on a user it will
show you a list, click "properties". You will see the new
user only has "user rights". You right click on
administrator and click "set password". Then you should
disable all of the other accounts. This is done by right
clicking on an account, properties, then check disable
account.
