Password setting: can't login

Hi,

Through the administrative account, I set a password on another
account I created, typed it in twice as required, and then tried login
in at boot up: wrong password!

In fact, I had first set a password on the administrative account
(when it was the sole one) with the result I could no longer log on,
for the same reason, and had to reinstall the whole thing.

I discovered a nice boot utility to blank the password, but would
still like to set a valid password to protect my computer.

Could anyone tell me what's the problem?

PS: for anyone with a password "situation" like mine, I suggest you
google ECDB boot CD-ROM. Very fine product.
