Password Reset Disk

When I try to create a password reset disk, the wizard will not give me the
option to select my CD drive. The lowest drive letter it will let me select
is F: which I believe is the pocket media drive bay. I would appreciate any
help or suggestions. Computer is a HP Pavilion a1730n, with Vista Home
Premium. Thanks.

You can only use a blank floppy disk or a removeable USB flash drive to
store the password reset disk.

I created a Vista password reset disk. That was easy. But how do I use it to
reset my password? I don't need to reset my password at this time but I
haven't been instructed what to do with this file should the situation
arise. Thanks

Tom,
When asked at logon, type in an incorrect password, it will offer to reset
the password.

Ronnie,
Thanks for taking time to reply. I appreciate your help. I'll try the USB
flash drive. I just wasn't expecting not to be able burn the info to a CD.

I am not sure you answered my question or that I understand it.. From your
post:

"When asked at logon, type in an incorrect password, it will offer to reset
the password."

Am I to assume that I plug in the flashdrive (password reset disk) into a
USB port, type in an incorrect password, and the system will find the
password reset disk and reset the password?

I am got going to try it to find out because if I am wrong I could screw
things up and be locked out of my computer.
Thanks for your help.

Tom,
If you click on the 'reset password' it will give you additional prompts to
insert the floppy or usb disk that has the password reset data on it. If it
finds the correct reset password info it will permit you to enter a new
password, the old one will be overwritten.
If you have encrypted files and you have not recorded the excryption key
there are circumstances that you can lose access to those files (so I have
read, don't have encrypted files on my machine).

If you would like to try out the operation without possibility of screwing
up your account I suggest you creat a new account to do testing with.
