Password required for networking.

When I boot up my 98 PC which is networked to my XP PC I am asked for the
Entire Network Password for MS Networking.
This is a nuisance and is not required. How do I get rid of this?

On the 98 PC, go to Control Panel | Network and set the primary
network logon to Windows Logon. Reboot, and log on with a user name
and no password. It won't ask for a logon again.

All peer-to-peer network functions are available using Windows Logon.

Using Windows Logon can't eliminate the logon prompt in these unusual
cases:

1. Logging on to a Windows NT/2000 server.
2. You've enabled multiple user profiles.

If either of those applies, use Tweak UI to log on automatically. Go
to the Logon tab and configure it. For information on how to download
and install Tweak UI, see this site:
