password question

Marcel Kuijper

Hi,

I'm very new to this newsgroup, so please....no barking! :)

A few weeks ago I bought a secondhand pc with XP Pro
installed on it. When I startup I don't have to enter a password,
but today I got a warning message stating that the password will
expire in 8 days. I can contact the previous owner, but is there
anyother way around this minor problem?

Thanks in advance,
Marcel

To prevent the password on a local user account from expiring, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type: compmgmt.msc , and then click OK.
2. Double-click Local Users and Groups, and then click Users.
3. Double-click the user account that you want to modify, and then click to select "Password never expires".
4. Click OK, and then close the Computer Management dialog box.

That did the trick alright!
Thanks, Carey!
