Password protecting local folders? Can it be done?

Hi All,

I know it goes against the design of Windows2000 and the NTFS file system,
but I have to ask anyway. Maybe there's something out there that can it:

Is there a way of password protecting a local folder in a Windows 2000/XP
computer?

Maybe some 3rd party software. But why not use the security available?
Simply restrict access to said folder such that only the desired user
can get to it.
