Password Protected Share Folder still not working ...

Jain Sajer

I am trying to create a shared folder on one computer on
the lan that is password protected so that it can be
accessed but only if you know a userid password.

This is the first time I have tried to set this up. The
machines were previously on Windows XP Home edition (a
desktop and a laptop).
The shared folder is on the laptop and I upgraded the
laptop to Windows XP Professional.
The machines are part of a LAN network and connected to
the network with Routers & Switches.

We want a shared folder on the Laptop to be visable only
to the Desktop and not the rest of the computers on the
LAN Network.

I created a limited user on the Laptop (not able to logon
directly from the laptop) and gave it a password.
On the directory I wish to share (under Shared Directories
on the Laptop), I set the properties so that the Security
tab and sharing tab permission included the new limited
user as able to have full abilities (create, delete, read,
etc.). I left the admistration and power users alone on
the laptop for that directory (whatever was there by
default).
I changed the owner of the directory to the main user on
the laptop (an adminstrator userid).
I then took off the everyone userid On the directory I
wish to share, (both Security tab and sharing tab
permissions) - delete it.
When I go to the desktop and try to access the shared
folder (it was previously created as a shared folder), I
get an error saying I am unable to access the folder. I
want it where I get asked the userid password and I enter
the limited user I declared. Note: I didn't delete and
recreate this link after changing the properties on the
shared folder.

WHAT AM I MISSING?
