Password Protected Page

I saw the thread on this but could come to a solution.

I too am having complications with the same information/link posted -
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825498

Default.asp page works fine and the link “Nonsecure Page†on that page takes
me to the non secure page and the link on that page “back to default†works
well and takes me back to the default page.

My problem starts when I click on the link “Password-Protected Page†I get
a “This page cannot be displayed†Page and I am assuming that this is causing
the logon page not to load as well so I never get to the testing part of the
instructions.

While in FP2003 I can see the pages well in the preview window so I assume
the code is fine - I copied and pasted so that should have eliminated typos
on my part.

Please Help

Are you attempting to use this in a Server based web (not a disc based web) running under Windows

Yes, attempting in a server based web but I have to say that I am not sure
what type - I have been trying to get information for for over a month now
with no luck and starting to get ansy so I decided to check on my own to see
if I added the asp page would it supported and it seem to do that so I
figured it was supported - didn't really get into what type of server but I
did do a check to see if it supports php and I received this info ... so I am
GUESSING that it is Linux with apache server - right???

Hi there! Thank you for responding.

Yes, I am attempting this on a server based web but not sure if window -
actually I think not. Note that the default.asp page and nonsecure.asp page
worked with no problem.

I have been trying to get info on the server from the provider for quite
some time with no luck so I am not sure. I did a check on my own for php
using info found on the web - phpinfo() and this is what I got back so I am
assuming it is an apache server but I am quite the novice so not even sure
what is the indication see below

PHP Version 4.4.2

Ok but why would it generate the default.asp and the nonsecure.asp page? and
not the other asp.net pages.

In school we have a unix server and it doesn't run any asp.net pages at all
(not even a simple home page) - this sample uploaded ran the code for 2 of
the pages and not the rest - does that make sense?

The school server doesn't support the FP extension either nor does it
support asp.net pages so our instructor had us open an account with
brinkster.com to support the asp.net pages we were introduced to -

sooooooo if I upload to that account would it support all the asp pages from
this logon sample I am trying to do? Can I assume that if brinkster.com
supports asp.net then it should support asp?

Is there a way to do password Protected Page with Linux?

Thank you so very much for your response! I really appreciate it.

APS.net and .asp pages are not the same. You have to contact the server Admin to answer your
question of why some pages work and others don't
