I am wondering if it would be easier to use the FP2002 password protection or
if purchasing software would be the better route.

Thanks for your time!

Purchasing *what* software?

Use the Frontpage password protection if your host allows subwebs/unique
permissions - check with them.

Follow the procedures here: http://www.murraywebs.com/faq.asp?ID=13

Otherwise find a script to password protect your folder/page(s).

It depends upon your needs.Your host may not allow you to create user
accounts so you may need to look at a third-party solution by default. If
you're doing things like having a user area for your web site where you
could have lots of users, you'll definitely want to use your own system that
can pull from a database so you can write scripts that access it (such as
allowing users to change their information/email address/view products they
purchased/etc.).

Hope this helps,
