Password problems

Hi there,
I hope someone can possibly help me. My daughter was having problems with
her computer and performed a System Restore on it to 2 weeks prior to the
problem. Now when she turns on the computer it shows an identity and asks
for a password. She has no idea what the password is and we have tried
several things. Is there a way to boot up the computer and get back to the
system restore feature to put it back the way it was and see if we can fix
the problem another way without having to go through the identity password???
