password not hidden

I have a computer (WinXP Pro) that reveals the password
as you type in in the logon box. Istead of the .... I
see my password. (Eg. 12345)

Any ideas?
 
I would scan that machine in depth as it sounds
very much like a poorly written interceptor rather
than the real XP login prompt.
