password issue with outlook 2k3

Blair Wilson

Help Needed!!

I am using Outlook 2K3. I get bad username or password when I try to
retrieve my emails from Comcast.net. If I test my Outlook configurations,
the test completes successfully. Yet when I try to send/receive, I get a bad
username/password message.

I have removed/reinstalled Outlook 2K3. I have the deleted the pssp entry
in the registry. Is there a file or registry setting that needs to be
deleted also? Where could the corruption be?

Any/All suggestions are welcomed. Your help in this matter will be greatly
appreciated. As always, thanks in advance..

What is the exact error message? Have you tried deleting and recreating
your account?

Milly,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I have tried to recreate my acct several
times. I deleted my registry entry under PSSP. Here is the log file.

Per log file, Outlook is sending a blank password. I am typing the
password, for some reason Outlook is sending a blank username. Does anybody
know where the password entry is stored or read from?

Hi,

Try the following steps..
(1) When it prompts for the password, try typing the complete email address
and check again.
(2) Remove and re-add the email account in Outlook.
(3) Configure the email account in Outlook Express and check if the error
comes up there or not!!!( If it does work in Outlook Express, import the
settings into Outlook using the Import/Export wizard in Outlook)

Thanks,

Mittu

Tried importing email settings from OE. OE works fine. That is what I am
currently using to retrieve my emails.

Remove the existing email account from Outlook.
Then, goto File>Import/Export>Import Internet Mail Account
Settings>Microsoft Outlook Express 6.
Does it work now in Outlook?
