Password issue at logon

I installed Vista on my main pc. When I went through the setup, I chose not
to use a password to logon. I went to logon a few days later and it asked me
for a password at the logon screen. It has locked me out. I have tried
booting up in safe mode to try it that way, but the Admin account is not
enabled and it says my account name and/or password is incorrect. I have
sinced then installed it again on another hard-drive in the same computer
just so I could access my files. Is there a way to go in and fixed my
problem so that I able to logon my original installation?

I am having the same problem with the upgrade of the Ultimate version! What
the &#$$(&@! I have previouly installed it and it did the same thing! I
accidentally stumbled into some combination of user id and password for an
account in my computer that was never used! I do not know why they disable
the admin account when most of us use that as our default user! Lets think
people!

Are you using the simple logon screen or the classic logon screen? One reason
why a Windows installation might start asking for a password after being set
up for automatic logon would be if you added another user. It's even possible
that another user might have been created by installation of some type of
software and resulted in this happening.

However, Windows shouldn't create its own password for the account. I hate
to ask it, but this has confused many folks before -- you did try logging in
to the account by leaving the password blank, right?

Another possibility would be that someone else logged on to your system and
created a password for that account.

Just throwing out some ideas. I think those are the most likely candidates
for causing what you're reporting.

I think the reasoning behind disabling the built-in admin account is pretty
sound. Microsoft has been warning users since Windows 2000 Pro was released
that they shouldn't use the built-in account for normal system use, and they
have recommended at least renaming it or disabling it for best practices.

In Vista the built-in admin account is used for special purposes. Its my
understanding that its permission set is what is used if you right-click on
an executable and select "Run As Administrator" from within an ordinary admin
account.

Yes, I am using the simple logon screen........I didn't create any other user
other than my own........I am the only one in my home, so there wasn't anyone
else who might have use my pc...........Yes, I did try leaving the password
blank because I didn't create a password on setup or after
installation...........

Thanks for the suggestions, but I have tried everything that I know. I may
purchase that password changing program by Active.
