Password Incorrect?

J

JamieM

I'm doing a normal Vista installation on a brand new laptop just out of the
box.

I have typed in my selected password and re-typed it again in the
confirmation box. It then did the whole long installation process.

Then it comes to the XP style "Users" page. I type in the password and it
says it is incorrect.

Surely if I typed it wrong the confirmation box would inform me that they
didn't match? I highly doubt I typed it wrong twice.

I would love any solutions as i'm literally stuck.

Hi Jamie,

The password is case-sensitive. Check whether you have accidentally got
the'Caps Lock' on. Another thing to check is the language and keyboard
settings. For example, 'Shift' + 2 on a US keyboard produces '@', whereas on
a UK one it produces '"' (double quotes). A useful tip is to just simply use
the word 'password' for all your accounts when first setting up your system
(append numbers to the end to differentiate between accounts). When you have
set all accounts to use the same language and keyboard settings, you can then
change the passwords on your accounts to something which is more secure. On
NO ACCOUNT should you leave passwords as simply 'password'.
