Password Incorrect or sign in name does not exist Error

I get the following error message when trying to login to Windows Messenger:

Signing into messenger service failed because the password is incorrect or
the sign-in name does not exist.

My password and sign in name work just fine to sign into my hotmail account
and they also sign into Internet Messenger service just fine under Linux
using the gaim client from the same machine using the same network settings
and internet gateway/firewall. Any ideas or things to check?

The new update to Norton Anti-Virus was the problem. I had to open NAV, go
to Options, then under Instant Messenger options click the setup new users
button. That apparently reconfigured NAV to recognize my IM setup & all
was well. Hope this helps someone.
