password in explorer

In an attempt to block unwanted "popup" webpages (porn
etc.) when surfing the net, I tried to install a firewall
in XP. One result is that for practically any webpage you
try to open, it is necessary to type in a password. Now I
think this is a nuisance and want to remove this security
function, but have failed so far. Can anybody tell me how
to restore standard security level without the password?
I have tried clicking on restoring standard settings, but
I am still prompted for the password all the time.

Hi Arne,

This behavior wouldn't be a result of enabling a firewall... Were changes
made to the security settings in IE at the same time?
