My best friends father passed away a while back and she now has his computer
and she wants to use the program Quicken but it refuses to let her in because
everything is password protected. We even tried to sign in as a new user but
it will not let her in without admistraters permission. How can she remove
his password so that she can get into the computer. There are even family
pictures and things like that that she wants to get into and save. Soes she
need to take it somewhere?

As far a s XP is concerned, if it is XP Home then get into Safe Mode
(by taping the F8 key immediately after the computer does its memory
check and login as Administator, the pass word is blank by default so
just tap the Enter button.

If the Father has set a password or if it is XP Pro then go to
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ . There you will find zip
files that will let you create boot floppy disks or bootable CDs that
will enable you to reset any system password on an NT classoperating
system (XP is an NT class operating system). Just reset the Fathers
password to blank (you may as well reset the Administartor password as
well).

As to Quicken, if a password was set then the following link may help
:-

https://help.quicken.com/support/help/sitewide/regist.q.reset.shtml

Good luck.
